Portability & Versatility

Blaine Nosworthy I’m pretty thrilled with the results of the past week of headshots.. In particular, a couple actors from the show “Zastrozzi” (that blog entry is here), spent a good chunk of time with me in downtown Nanaimo trying out quite a few different looks in the same general area.

It’s times like this that I’m glad that I’ve focussed on keeping my equipment rather light. We can bang off more setups, more poses, in less time.

Nothing wrong with that.

Oh Noz! The Papparazzi! My New Nephew Got to meet my new nephew for the first time - he was born March 26, but you know, I wanted to let his eyes adjust before I start firing flashes at him, right? There’s a certain realization of how busy I’ve been when it’s been a whole month before I got to meet him.

I have quite the reputation with my other nephew it seems as well, as soon as I walked in the door, the little 3 year old was blurting: “camer-wah? where’s it? camer-wah?”.

Wee little feet.

I waited patiently for my new nephew to finish his nap, then snuck in quietly as he was waking up and snapped a few shots. Time well spent.

Artist’s Profile Shot - Chelsey Braham, Nanaimo

Artist's PortraitGotta hand it to Chelsey for finding this great textured location for the portraits she had me do for her today! It’s a great location nearby that offers some undercover areas for rainy days, and so many different framing options… and even though it’s right downtown Nanaimo, it’s tucked away enough from foot traffic that there’s no pressure, and no on-lookers.

Can’t you see the image at left printed large for a ‘profile’ image at her art shows? Stylin’!

I think I’ll hit this spot up again tomorrow when I’ll be doing some headshots for aspiring Nanaimo actors…

More from today’s shoot: (the last one is her personal fave)

Zastrozzi - Revenge in it’s true meaning.

Got word that there was a very unique & entertaining performance going down at Mal-U this week - Thanks to Michelle Kuzilla-Spoor for the heads-up! She arranged for a photo session, and what an awesome shoot it turned out to be! The costumes were fantastic, the acting was intense & this group would stop at nothing to get ‘the shot’ (just like me, no?) :-)

The story:

Gothic Framed & Textured “Zastrozzi is a 19th-century world-class master criminal, murderer, robber, rapist, and zealous atheist whose greatest conceit is that he has never been caught. In the last few years, however, his new fixation has become revenge, of finding and killing a man named Verezzi who horribly murdered Zastrozzi’s mother.

The SeductressVerezzi seems always to mysteriously elude Zastrozzi and his two minions, the murderous but unimaginative Bernardo, and Matilda, Zastrozzi’s sultry, sociopathic mistress.

Then we meet Verezzi, a man apparently so traumatized by his own crime of passion that his descent into madness has left him an overgrown baby with an adult libido and a delusion that he is a Messiah with a host of spiritual followers. He’s a complete idiot, albeit a beatifically happy one. His survival is due only to the resourcefulness of his harried servant, Victor, a symmetry obsessed ex-priest who once promised Verezzi’s father to protect him and now somehow manages to stay one step ahead of Zastrozzi.En Guarde!Verezzi & Victor

Zastrozzi finally tracks clueless Verezzi to a small European mountain hamlet where they both fall madly in love with the beautiful and pure but pragmatic Julia. Then the fun really begins and the body count rises.”

Everyone was particularly impressed with the vintage framed & textured image at the top with the ‘gothic’ feel.  Quite frankly, the image begged for that treatment!
