Green Party Candidate Ryan Conroy

 
Late last month, it was my pleasure to photograph Ryan Conroy for the Green Party of B.C..
 
A little about Ryan from his website:
Ryan is an active member of the Canadian Autoworkers Union (CAW) and works for Coast Mountain Bus Company as a transit operator and line instructor. Ryan is passionate about transit, healthy living and community building. He has served as a board member for local athletic organizations and co-operatives, and studied secondary education with a major in music and a minor in Art and Design at the University of Alberta; currently he is taking courses through Thompson Rivers University's Open Learning division. He is a passionate trail and road runner regularly competing in distances up to 100 milers and regularly volunteers at local running events, and currently plays the bass guitar for local Latin-funk group Santa Lucia, featured on the BC and Canadian festival circuit in the summer months.
We had just done a shoot for the band Santa Lucia, in which Ryan performs - and it was raining.  We had planned to shoot out and about in the riding (Hastings).. and although rain would typically put a frown on one's face when your photoshoot is starting - Ryan thought it was very suiting for Vancouver, and I could not have agreed more!
Besides the basic clean headshots, we got some great images 'on the move' in his riding..

A friend whom I respect very much in the world of art and design, Jakob Rehlinger, commented on this image, calling it "The [most] quintessentially Vancouver shot I've ever seen."
Well, if that isn't exactly what we were looking to achieve!  Best of luck to you Ryan!
